Kate (Meg Ryan) is a successful businesswoman living also in New York, but in 2001. The movie dwells on Leopold's adaptation to rudeness, quick pace and lack of culture. "A gentleman is a Positive —My wife and I, who love romantic comedies, went with great anticipation after reading the reviews given on this site. We were only slightly disappointed with the movie as a whole. The plot has some holes in it, as my wife said a number of times, the movie gave us no reason at all why Leopold should be attracted to Kate at first.
Leopold, the Duke of Albany, ends up falling in love with a girl that doesn’t believe a word he says but ends up believing when she sees pictures of herself in the past with him. When he returns to the past, the girl follows after him. Well, of course it's preposterous: Time travel involves so many paradoxes that it is wise, in a romantic comedy like this, to simply ignore them. The movie is not really about time travel anyway, but about elegant British manners vs I suppose the movie has a lot of plot holes, but I forgot all that and got mesmerized by Leopold. It’s not just because of the way he looks, but his personality. If a guy with that accent and chivalry and romance ever came to court me, I would do exactly as Kate did in the movie – throw away my career and the life I know just to be with him.

Kate & Leopold is mostly harmless. Both Jackman and Ryan have a warm, delicate chemistry. Their affair is easily believable as the two delicately dance around love.
